Man, have I been a terrible blogger, or what?! There has been so much going on that stopping for a few hours to edit pics and write up a fascinating post (har har) has been near impossible. I have some very riveting Auburn posts to update on the blog, along with some new invites and stringies.. however all that will have to wait because
THIS IS THE WEEK OF WEST ELM'S GRAND OPENING WITH SOME
HERRING DESIGN CO. PIECES IN THE STORE!
I realized right before I started writing this that I had not announced it on the bloggie (however it was all over facebook and instagram), so here it is again:
West Elm is a store under the Williams Sonoma umbrella of stores (which also includes Pottery Barn). In my opinion, they are the BEST one because they have more modern looking furniture (go do yourself a favor and request a catalog from westelm.com). They partner with local Etsy artists in the places where they are opening stores and have pop up shops with their work!

The most exciting thing is that I was contacted by a buyer from West Elm on Etsy! EEE! I pretty much died with excitement while telling anyone who would listen on gchat. Well, anyone that knew who West Elm was..
Anyhow, it's been very exciting! They ordered the I heart Bham string arts in two colorways, a natural wood and the stain wood. I finished them up a while ago and was waiting for the official purchase order before I could drop them off. The process has been different than other stores I have art in since I had to follow the national rules and protocols. All kinds of forms to fill out, including signing one to say that I don't employ children in my workshop!
Today I dropped off my goodies at the store, which is located at the Summit in Birmingham. It's in the old American Eagle building right next to Urban Outfitters.
Oooo isn't the signage awesome?! I love the wood slats. Go follow @westelmbirmingham on instagram to see some better shots! You can also follow them on fb at West Elm Birmingham at the Summit.
It was super exciting to go in there and see all the displays being setup! I would like one of everything, please. The grand opening is this Thursday, all day long! (10am-9pm i believe) Of course I'm going to check it out. I'll head up there after 5pm since that's when my friends gets off work and are coming to see the store with me. Are they the best, or what?! They may have to bring some shovels to scrape me off the floor due to fainting from excitement.
If you live in the Bham area, you should come too!
EEEE! I'm so excited!
If I don't get back to the blog this week, I have another Herring Design Co. announcement! I'll be doing an art show this weekend out at Ross Bridge in Hoover, AL called Art and Music on the Green. I did this one last year, and I loved it! They have free beer and wine tastings, yummy food, live music, and it seems there is going to be a mechanical bull! haha! Last year there was a big screen playing football (my fav, duh). It starts at 9am AND they put my booth right next to the BEER TENT!!!!
Could this week be any better?!?!
yay for you!!!! I love my Dothan string art!
ReplyDeleteThanks Christen! That Dothan one was one of my favs :)
