bedside table, the second.

Are you ready for the beside table goodness to be brought?!

Kidding. This will probably look like deja vu to most due to bedside table the first that was completed several weeks ago. But unlike his predecessor, the second has a bit of fancy in his pants.

Note that he has the curved legs like I was looking for, however he has little man syndrome, aka he's short. He's actually a bit shorter than I wanted, but I am DYING to get the bedroom makeover complete! I figure if I happen across another that would look better, I can sell this one.

Obviously he has a shelf instead of a second drawer, which is fine by me. That's part of his fanciness!

I was not thrilled with the cord hole in the back. It's just a flimsy piece of chip board.

Bedside table the second got his fancy on first!

Everyone please take a stretch break to view this photo. I seemed to have been in edit mode, and just slapped the tag on there without turning it..

I had these two paint colors leftover from different projects. They are so similar, I figured if I ran out of one, it would be hard to tell if I started using the other.

I took off the drawer hardware and brought him outside. He is HEAVY, btw.

Then I sprayed the shelf! It was quite funny. It was like blowing off something dusty; it just came right back into my face. That spray paint has a bit of a shimmer, so I got a complimentary body glow from it.

After it dried, I lined the edge with painter's tape.

Then I taped newspaper around the edges.

Everyone together now: light even coats! I used the same color as the last bedside table.

All done! I removed the tape and newspaper, and brought him back inside.

TA DAAA!

PS: I just realized the drawer is crooked in these pictures. OOPS! I stuck it in there wrong so it's not a furniture flaw, it's a Rachel flaw.

Just look at him with his two colors! Mr. Fancy Pants, indeed!

I let him sit in the den to dry overnight. Whenever you paint something, you should let it sit overnight to cure before you start sitting things on it (even if it's dry to the touch). There is a chance that it could leave an imprint, which is why these pictures are taken in the den. Welllll, let's be honest, you KNOW I haven't walked it upstairs yet.

Also, MY RUG ARRIVED TODAY! Woo! It's still rolled up, but I'm hoping to get it in position tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed that I can make it happen. Can you believe it arrived in a day in a half?!? I think I ordered it around 10pm Monday night, and it was here by lunch. CRAZY!

lake time!

I hope everyone had a lovely long Memorial Day weekend! I went to the lake for some fun and too much sun. Let's have some pics, shall we? I brought my nice camera, and wouldn't ya know, I didn't pull it out until the last day. I did take some on my phone, so those are sprinkled in as well.

Here's my sweet baby Cottonball on the porch. She looooves to swim, but with her new haircut, she gets sunburned easily, so she hung out in the shade.

Little Moe with the gimpy leg (name that movie) rolled around and crutched herself through the weekend.

Awww poor Possum stuck outside!

This is where I spent most of the weekend..

What I failed to take a picture of was the awesome unicorn sticker that's on her cast.

Part of the weekend crew.

The island! Bum bum bummmmm!

The lakehouse from the dock. I've shown the outside of the lakehouse, but have I shown you the inside?

This is dad's domain, so he has decorated pretty much the entire thing. Can you tell?! I'm obsessed with the canoes. It looks a bit jumbled from this angle, but it's more sectioned when you're in there.

I didn't notice how blurry this was when I took it, but I wanted everyone to take note of the Coke machine in the bottom right. TWINS! Well I don't technically have a machine.. but whatevs.

Mom and Neanie were at the lake as well, and so you'll notice them photobombing a few of these shots.

I love the old pulley with the wooden ducks in them hanging there in the back middle. Also note the giant glass bottle with the coinage under it. I need to get dad to donate that to me.

Here's the open kitchen. I am dying to get dad to let me help him redo it. I love the white cabinets and Corian countertops, but the sunflower wallpaper has got to go. I also think a backsplash along the back wall above the sink would look lovely.

I didn't take pictures of my room. I need to show it to everyone because it was first room fully done by myself. My mom basically gave me full reign from the furniture, to the wall color, to the bedding. Ahh, wouldn't you love to see what a sixth grade Rachel came up with?! I'll be making several trips this summer, so I'll be sure to get some for the bloggie.

There are gonna be some good house updates this week! I ordered a rug off Overstock last night for my room. They were 15% off for a Memorial Day sale, so I was able to get an 8x10' for a pretty good deal. Overstock is great about shipping super fast, so I'm hoping it will get in before the end of the week. If you're following the bloggie on facebook, you saw the newest furniture purchase! I painted it today, so I'll show that tomorrow. Once I get all the new goodies placed upstairs, I'll be able to do a full bedroom reveal!

EEEE!

rachel-bowl-oosa!

Warning: this post has nothing to do with decor.

And everything to do with mah birfday!

First off, my roommate Kate made this MAGICALLY DELICIOUS DOUBLE DOOZIE CHOCOLATE CHIP AND M&M COOKIES FROM SCRATCH!!! Even the ICING was made from scratch! THE ICING! FROM SCRATCH!

She bakes a lot, but these are probably my favorite so far.

(did you hear that Kate? HA!)

They almost melt in your mouth. The are SO. FLIPPING. GOOD.

In fact, I ate THREE today. I'm not even mad about it. Birthday treats have no calories, right?

This year, Rachelpalooza was turned into Rachel-bowl-oosa! I had so much fun!

This probably helped..

Mmmhmmm, $6 pitchers.

Why yes, I did wear my birthday hat all night long!

I made everyone pick a funny name to bowl with..

Mine was Preparation Rach, but it cut it off on the display..

The Doctors Nelson made an appearance. They were pretty awesome at bowling.. it must be those medical fingers.

Here's me and my big ol' butt. I wasn't bad.. but I wasn't too good either.

Richard was awesome. FIVE strikes in a row!

Drew and Brittany came to bowl.

Around 9pm, it turned into COSMIC BOWLING! Hells yeah!

um cha! um cha! um cha!

Roommate picture! Kate the cookie master is on the left, and Katie, the ol' ball and chain, is on the right (we've been friends going on 22 years. She loves that title! HA!).

Katie and her bf Bradley.

The other ball and chain, Richie.

Aww wee!

Action shots!

Again with my b.o.b.

Kate not only bakes, she bowls as well! She had her own ball! COLOR ME JEALOUS!

Stephen and Matt FRIEND SQUEEZE! Matt is about to move to D.C. (scho schad). I'm glad Rachelpalooza occurred before he had to leave!

Candace and Seth came to bowl as well!

All in all, it was an awesome birthday!

It will continue this weekend at the lake! You didn't think Rachelpalooza lasted only one day, did you?

retro for the porch, yo

After seeing my latest project yesterday, I'm sure you were dying to see how I was going to spruce it up with furniture! HA!

I am in love with old retro outdoor furniture. IN LOVE, I TELL YOU!

I think it's because of their bright colors (we all know I'm obsessed). They go with the style on the inside of the house, too. These pieces below look like the giant red star in the living room.

This green puppy would look lovely with the giant Coke sign (and Double Cola thermometer).

Most of these retro pieces are gliders! How fun!

Ooooo a gameday glider! IT NEEDS TO BE ON MY PORCH!

This sunshine yellow set is lovely as well.

The ones above are nice, but I may have found the. best. one. ever.

AMERICUH!!!!!!!

AND you can order this baby right here

I've seen some of these around antique malls in town, so I'll have to start shopping around.

In other news..

it's officially RACHELPALOOZA!

The time stamp on this post will say it's not (because for some reason it marks it 3 hours before the actual time, even though it's set on central), but it's now 12:27am!

My friends and I have a tradition of calling each other at midnight, and I'm happy to report we're still keeping it going! I got three calls in a row! I feel like that's a lot considering most peeps aren't night owls like myself..

I FEEL SO LOVED!

Birthdays are my favorite!
