reunited and it feels so good

So my biggest seller on Etsy is the Class Reunion Invitation that I designed a while ago, so I decided it was high time to make some more so people could have options! Roomie Kate suggested I make one with "Reunited and it feels so good". Genius!

I put a lot of information on one card so people wouldn't have to have an RSVP card.

I made another one as well. This one is not as detailed (typography wise), so there's room for additions, and it won't matter as much how long or short words are.

I made an RSVP card to go along with it as well!

Do you see what I did there? I made Ryan Reynolds my hubs. JEALOUS?!

I planned on showing everyone my bathroom reveal, but after I found some doodads to style it, I changed my mind on the color scheme. SO I have to make some returns, as well as find some other thing-a-ma-bobs.

This weekend, I'm picking up pavers to lay the side porch! EEEEE! I'll keep everyone posted!

my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard

Too bad I didn't have a damn milkshake last week.

There were no boys in my yard, only myself. The shrubbery in my front yard had gotten a bit out of control. Here's some before shots:

I took to 'em with some hedge clippers. I do not like using them when the bushes are so tall. It hurts my little wrists.

I did them in shifts. The second day I did these between the yards.

 After:

On the third day, I conquered the mailbox. I'm sure my mailman was getting shishkabobbed with the branches as he tried to deliver mail..

It looks a bit naked now.. oops.

I also tackled this thing crawling up the tree in the front yard. Is it kudzu? Is it ivy? Who knows?! I just had to take it off.

Of course my squatty 5'3" self couldn't reach to the top, so some are still hanging out on the tree. I also couldn't get the root ripped out of the ground, so it's sticking out until I can do something about it.

The final chapter of this dramatic segment is this overgrown monstrosity in the corner of the walkway and carport..

Just ridiculous! There is also ivy/kudzu/whatever in here as well, although it wasn't the same as whatever was on the tree.

Wowzers, what a difference!

I know you're dying for some action shots!

When I cut the ginormous corner shrubbery, I found this little nest!

Nests are so awesome, amiright? What a good DIY project, little bird.

I actually remember when they were inhabiting it.. the mama bird was not pleased while I worked on the barnwood bamas outside. She dive bombed me a couple times as I walked to the carport.

It was on a big branch I cut down, but I couldn't bring myself to throw it away. I carefully pulled it off the branch, and put it on the brick ledge.. is that weird?

Is it also weird to have so many nests pictures on this post?

In other news, my gallant steed, Green Bean, turned 100,000 miles last week! In honor of this big milestone, I took her out to get a bath and vacuumed her. Doesn't she look pretty?!

So a mostly full yard shot of the progress:

Before:

After:

Next yard project is to wrangle the flower beds. They are quite embarrassing because they are so overgrown with weeds. Also removing that broken bucket/flower pot thing in the middle of the yard.

And next time, I'll bring milkshakes.

You hear that, boys?!?

helmet schedule

The trash talking has already started in my office.. Who are we kidding? There's always trash talk in the office when you mix Auburn and Alabama fans, especially when this state has dominated for the past three years.

We're less than a 100 days away, folks! It's never too early for one of these babies:

Click here for your own helmet schedule. I'm interested to see how the new kids on the block (Missouri and Texas A&M) are going to fare. And who our quarterback is going to be. We play Clemson in the Chickfila kick-off game in Atlanta. Guess who's going?

I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!

wood you like a silhouette?

I gave you this sneak peek of the silhouettes I made for roomie Kate:

We discussed making them white, but after some pinteresting, we found this:

LOVE! So color was the route we wood take.

I had profile shots of Kate and her siblings, and I put them in Illustrator to size them to the same height. Then I printed them, and cut them out with an exacto knife. If I flipped these over, it would be the actual picture of them. I've seen some tutorials where people change the silhouette to black or white in photoshop before cutting them out, but there's really no need to do that.

I shaped the bottom of them and traced them onto the wood.

I put picture hangers on the back before I painted.

Here's my setup! These were meant to hang in Kate's lake house, so she had me match the colors on a table they had in there. I was looking at it on my computer as I painted.

TA DA!

Here's me holding one so you can see the scale. Not too big, and not too small! I really like the texture of the wood. Perfect for a lakehouse!

Here's one on the kitchen counter. It looked really gray against the wood floor pictures up there, but it's not that intense.

I think I'll list these on Etsy. They're just $20 each, and if you're interested, I'll need a profile picture along with whatever color you'd like! And it's not limited to just people.. I wood also be able to do your fur babies as well!

HA! See what I did there?

coming up!

Hello! I feel like I got a lot done this weekend! Here are some previews (with crappy iPhone pics):

I made these silhouettes painted on wood for roomie Kate's dad for Father's Day. This was a sneak peek mid-way. I'll do the complete reveal this week!

Saturday, I finished trimming the bushes in the front yard, then I removed all the bricks on the side porch. Let me tell you how awesome it is to move 234508 bricks to the back yard without a wheelbarrow.. I had to transport about 6 at a time by hand, and I looked like a complete DIRT BALL afterwards. HA!

My lovely friend Rachel (nicknamed Smalls) and I went shopping today for some home goods. She is joining the Two Dogs and a House/Single Lady Club that Kate and I founded  (aka she is buying a house all by herself and has 2 pups). I was helping her pick out some stuff, and in the meantime I picked out some stuff for myself. I got this bad-ace rug from Urban Outfitters among other items. I'll be taking pictures of it all for y'all this week.

I had an epiphany tonight about the whole bathroom pull debacle, and did this project in about 30 minutes. I used the Liquid Leaf from the horse bookend project, then painted white chevron on the square pieces. I'm so glad to have pulls that fit!!! Maybe I can FINALLY do the big bathroom reveal (9 months after the fact).

SO MUCH BLOGGIE GOODNESS THIS WEEK!

patio goodness

Ello! A couple weeks ago, I talked about loving retro patio furniture, and how I was going to use it on the side porch once I got it cleared out (and brick down).

Now I'm back with a big ol' mood board for all the elements I want to include!

Sources:

Since I already have the blue weber grill, I decided to base colors around that. It's no surprise I decided on greens and blues! Most of the things above are DIY projects. I can't wait to tackle them!

The wine bottle lanterns will be pretty easy with some parts from Home Depot. I'll have to mount them on posts since there is a chain link fence in the yard, instead of a wooden one. The vertical garden may be a bit of a challenge. I haven't really tested my green thumb, so we shall see! I think I'm most excited about the rain gutter coffee table! All the tutorials I've found show it on a picnic table, so I'll just have to modify the dimensions for it. I'm thinking a darker wooden top with some hairpin metal legs.

This board has motivated me to finish up the porch asap!

updated site & a fall preview

I have been working super hard on updating my site, yall! And there's still a lot to do, but I really like where it's headed, so take a look, and let me know what you think! I added a spiffy new image rotator on the homepage, along with changing the layout on some other pages. There are some header fonts and layout things I'm not happy with, but most are just defaults offered through the site. I'm trucking along in Photoshop creating something more my style, but I have a big chunk of it ready! EEE!

Yep, still rocking the Fish + Line Design until I come up with something else.
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

So I rarely write about fashion, but I do like to keep everyone updated with SEC football happenings. When I saw this, I knew I had to share..

Have you heard of the brand Judith March? The designer Stephanie Nichols has a shop in Seaside, which is where I first heard of it. I had actually forgotten about it until my ol' roomie Katie brought it up because she saw something that she knew I would love..

Can you read the shirts?!?

The white shirt says: Bo, Cam, Cadillac, Pat. EEEE! (All great Auburn football players for those who aren't as obsessed as myself). The black one is a UGA shirt, and the blue is a Florida one.

HOW CUTE! I love the font!

I NEED ONE IMMEDIATELY!

Or at least before September..

Oh, and did you see her skirt??

ORANGE AND NAVY SEQUIN STRIPES!!

Don't mind if I doooo! Who cares if I'll look like a Tiger Paw?! I need it!

These images are from the Judith March blog found here, and you can check out their site here at judithmarch.com. I can't wait to see the rest of the fall/game day line!

EEEE!
